The PokerStars World Cup of Poker is back again, and this year PokerStars is bringing together 54 nations from across the globe to take part in the ultimate poker battle. There’s a huge $290,000 prize pool up for grabs with the winning nation taking home the $100,000 first place prize money at the live Grand Final in the Bahamas.
This is a great chance for you and your fellow countrymen to show the world what you’re made of. Never before has such a large group of nations come together to battle it out to become PokerStars World Cup of Poker champions and this year PokerStars is giving all online poker players a chance of making it onto their national team.
Every country will have a team of four players, these lucky four online poker players will be decided by the stage 1 qualifying tournament. The first two places on the team are automatically awarded to the country’s top two tournament leaderboard finishers and the other two spots go to the top two players of the National Team Decider freerolls.
After the national teams have been selected they move on to stage 2 - the Regional Play-offs. In the stage 2 play-offs the 54 teams from around the world are divided into nine Regional Divisions. The winning team from each of the Regional Play-offs will move on to Stage III – the Live Final. In order to qualify for the Live Final each team will play in a series of ‘Team Play-off’ tournaments.
The winning national teams from the Regional Play-offs will be flown out to the Atlantis Hotel and Resort in The Bahamas which is one of the world’s most exotic and luxurious resorts and is also home of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure. This is where the final nine teams will compete for the $100,000 first prize and also the coveted World Cup of Poker VI title.
