Poker sites are helping Haiti earthquake victims
In the wake of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, which is believed to have claimed the lives of over 200,000 people, many online poker sites are offering a helping hand. Across the internet, various poker sites are helping Haiti earthquake victims with charity fund raising tournaments and even by matching online poker player donations, effectively doubling the donations to Haiti.
Poker sites Full Tilt Poker, PokerStars and Cake Poker have all taken the noble step to match every single cent of their poker players’ donations, a gesture which will go down in poker history. Plus all three of these charitable poker sites are running special charity online poker tournaments to raise additional funds for the Haiti victims.
Doyles Room is another one of the poker site which has stepped up to the plate in a bid to raise money for the Haiti appeal. The weekly Celebrity Bounty Tournament at Doyles Room has a buy in of $10 + $2, which $10 for the prize pool and $2 as your entry fee. Doyles Room is donating all of the entry fees from this week’s tourney to help the earthquake victims in Haiti.
Full Tilt Poker has set up dummy tournaments which allow you to donate to the Haiti appeal by paying to play in a tournament that doesn’t exist. Your buy-in will simply be donated to the earthquake victims fund plus Full Tilt Poker will match you donation 100%. You can buy-in to these donation tournaments for $1, $2, $5, $10, and $26.
PokerStars allows you to use the ‘Transfer Funds’ facility on your account to donate money directly to the Haiti appeal. Simply send the funds to ‘Haiti Fund’ to make your donation. You can also buy into dummy tournaments similar to the ones at Full Tilt with buy-ins of $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $200,and $1,000 and once again, PokerStars will match all donations to double the efforts.
