Weddings can be not only the most memorable day of your life but also the most expensive. The thrifty online poker player converted his hard earned PartyPoints to buy a dream Caribbean holiday for himself and his new wife.
Greg Scharkov from Toronto played enough poker games at PartyPoker to qualify for membership to their Palladium Lounge VIP club. Rather than using his PartyPoints to buy into live poker tournaments or to buy the many luxury goodies from the PartyPoker store the dedicated online poker player noticed a holiday to the beautiful Caribbean island of St Lucia, which he could buy with 55,000 of his PartyPoints.
The 35-year-old Canadian decided that it was only fitting that the couple went on their honeymoon courtesy of Party Poker as they met playing poker eight years previously. The newly married poker player said “I was looking at how I could use my loyalty points one day and by fluke came across the holiday while looking at the store online. It is fantastic to be able to use my points for something as important and expensive as my honeymoon. We had a great time, the holiday was top draw.”
This isn’t the first time in the history of poker that romance has taken centre stage. In 2006 a couple who met each other and fell in love at Party Poker got married with a Party spokesman acting as their witness.
